SET-50™
The SET-50™ is lightweight and features a clam shell housing that fits into the palm of your hand. It is constructed using a compact arm, sealed ball bearings to reduce friction, and a spring specifically designed to meet the latest Underwriters Laboratories’ force requirements. This housing ensures all moving mechanisms are protected against dirt and breakage.
Used according to directions, the tester provides proper pressure that, when run along an item’s edge or surface, will help establish the object’s safety for handing and use.
In order to perform a test, the SET-50™ must be used along with the TC-3™ tape caps. The combination of calibrated pressure applied by the SET-50™ and exact sensitivity of the TC-3™ tape caps fit onto the pressure head of the tool will result in a simple pass/fail that indicates if your product is safe.
The SET-50™ comes with one (1) TC-3™ tape cap located on the pressure head of the tester. Tape caps are reusable until the test fails or any of the layers have been penetrated. At that point they must be discarded. It is important to have multiple tape caps on hand, especially during assembly line testing.
In addition to the single tape cap, each tester includes a User Guide and Certificate of Calibration.
TC-3™
TC-3™ tape caps are specifically made for the Sharp Edge Tester SET-50™. Unlike other manufacturers, our tape caps fit precisely to ensure reliable and accurate test results. Each TC-3™ box contains 44 custom crafted tape caps.
Tape caps are designed to test for sharp edges by simulating layers of skin on a finger. To conform with UL 1439, every TC-3™ contains the following three (3) preassembled tape layers and a center guideline on a plastic cap:
- 1 layer of Foam Black Tape
- 1 layer of Foam White Tape
- 1 layer of Teflon® Tape
Each piece also feature a guideline on the center of the cap to help inspectors align the tool on the edge or surface being tested. TC-3™ tape caps slip on the pressure head of the Sharp Edge Tester SET-50™ for quick and easy testing.
